Countdown till Madden ‘11

July 30th, 2010 | By Senor DreQuinn

August 9th 2010 11:50 pm I have a date with the future. The future of things to come, the new and improved future, the future that has been expected to change the way we view the game. Madden NFL 2011 will drop August 10th and I cannot wait! If you love madden like me then you’ve already pre-ordered it called off from work on tenth and will be at your local Gamestop at 12:00 am Tuesday 2 weeks from now waiting in line to pick it up. This has to be one of the most hyped Maddens ever. New features and a change in game play have made me weary, but sources have reassured that 2011 is the best Madden ever released.

I just hope they’re right. The demo was dropped earlier this week and fans everywhere have experienced a taste of new things that we’ve mentioned earlier this year such as game flow, controller layout, kicking, graphics and the physics of the game. This new way of Madden has got me mad anxious and I cannot wait. (I haven’t downloaded the demo no Internet at home! If you haven’t heard Snewty doesn’t pay well) So if your already playing the demo with the Jets and Colts (I understand Madden wants to use conference finals for the demo, last year they used Cardinals and Eagles for the demo, but wouldn’t the super bowl make more sense? Or better yet the All star game? Just saying) I really do hope you enjoy it, now I gotta go drool over the player ratings online

Here’s a preview of gameplay, Avert your eyes during the gameplay, best video I could find but it includes some of the most horrible teams in the NFL…keep in mind I’m from the DMV so I can’t help but be biased

Chicago Last Plea to Get LeBron To Play For the Bulls [sick campaign]

July 7th, 2010 | By Isis

Right as the clock struck 12:01 a.m. ET on Thursday morning, officially starting this summer’s free-agency bonanza, LeBron James(notes) received three things — several phone calls from interested teams, a knock on his door and a mysterious package. Since the package was mysterious, no one knew what it contained. But now that we’re a few days past the start of the offseason signing period, someone has to take credit for the move.

As it turns out, the package James received was from Chicago. And as it turns out, it was the final piece in a week-long marketing initiative by the Chicago-based Leo Burnett Worldwide ad agency. From the Chicago Tribune’s Steve Johnson:

“LeBron, the fans of Chicago have a question for you,” reads the two-page ad that ran in Thursday’s Akron Beacon Journal, James’ hometown paper. “Can you cast a shadow this big?”

The image is of an outline that looks a lot like Michael Jordan’s, in the iconic, ball-in-one-hand pose, spread out over the Chicago cityscape. Dreamed up by sports-loving ad guys at the city’s Leo Burnett agency and paid for by Burnett, it was the culmination of a four-day campaign featuring a fresh challenge each day. [...]

So Monday, they sent to his house the classic red, white and black Air Jordans and asked if he could fill those shoes. Tuesday it was a case featuring seven empty ring boxes, representing one more championship than Jordan won here, and the question, “Can you fill these boxes?”

Wednesday was a mock-up of a Chicago Tribune 10 years hence – still going strong, by the way – and the headline “Sweet Throne, Chicago: With Title No. 7, It’s Officially King James’ Court.”

Bold. I mean, wowsers, you guys. Flaunting Chicago and Michael Jordan’s legacy in James’ hometown is about as direct as you can be when addressing what many see as James’ biggest hurdle when considering signing with the Bulls. No use beating around the bush, I guess. Readily acknowledging that LeBron would have a lot of work to do to catch Jordan is playing to James’ competitive side, and doing that would be just the kind of thing that would set Jordan off. I think that’s irony, but I’m not a big Alanis Morissette fan.

It feels like this move might tell us a little bit about what LeBron is really after and whether or not he’s willing to intentionally position himself against the greatest player of all-time. At the very least, it’s a pretty cool campaign — Don Draper would be proud — and LeBron got a pair of awesome shoes. I think that makes him the big winner in all of this.

Serena Williams x JET Magazine

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is covering next week’s issue of JET Magazine… and that outfit does her no justice…

“When Serena Williams, the No. 1 tennis player in the world, steps off the court, the 28-year-old exchanges her tough exterior for a fun, lighthearted nature as the baby of the Williams family. Jet caught up with the woman that has a 125-mph serve to find out about a side of her she rarely reveals. “I’m really sensitive. I always want everyone to be happy. I’m a pleaser. I never want to make people sad or let them down, sometimes it’s even to my demise. I have learned to take care of me more, and I’m definitely learning to do better at that.”

The Puma Phone

February 18th, 2010 | By SDot

So Puma is next to jump on the “We have a new phone coming out too” bandwagon… and I’m not the least bit aroused.

Puma Phone

The phone comes with an integrated solar cell, music player, camera and all the usual features of a modern cell phone. Of course the brand kept sports in mind when creating the device. It comes with matching apparel and sports equipment (GPS run tracker, GPS bike speedo, pedometer, yachting compass, etc).

46 days until the phone’s release…

This Week In Sports

October 24th, 2009 | By Isis

Wasup People…just wanted to alert you about some things happening in sports via our Sports Snewty Rep Skates…This is what she sent me last night. She’s on vacation at the moment but when she returns she will make her formal introduction to Snewtyville.

Bulls Paint the Town Red
- First of all, it is not that uncommon for you to see a member of the Chicago Bulls walking around downtown at any given moment, but I gather some Chicagoans missed the memo and decided to line up inside of WaterTower Place for hours just to get a glimpse of a few key members of their beloved basketball team. Of course, many were there to see one Chicago Bull in particular – Chicago’s own D. Rose. Unfortunately, he has not practiced his interviewing over the summer and the educator in me smh at how cps failed this young man ha. Sad thing, if you were to ask the fans in attendance to name another CHicago bull besides D. Rose they prolly would have looked into the camera blankly – the rookie of the year is healthy and geared up to possibly top last years breakout performance – we shall see. NBA tipoff is just four days away – I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely ready to embark upon the journey that leads to hopefully a very explosive playoff series.

BEARS – Week 7

This video will only excite NFL fanatics – long story short, the bears have a week o-line which is killing their running game. Also, J. Cutler has a penchant for throwing picks from time to time as well. Both teams are coming off a week 6 loss and Former Bear Cedric Benson is 3rd in the league in rushing. Everybody is gonna be focused on comparing Matt Forte and Cedric Benson, I’d say one should hold off judgement until the bears fix that week o-line. Even still, I believe the Bears will lose this week 7 matchup but it will be an interesting game to watch.
