Dom Perignon

Dom Pèrignon, one of the world’s most prestigious champagnes, has switched up its label for the first time in history. They are paying tribute to pop artist Andy Warhol. The limited edition bottles were inspired by Warhol’s unconventional talent, shapes and bright colors. The bottles are only available in four outlets in Barcelona, Madrid and Marbella, Spain.

Hennessy x Berluti – X.O. Methusalem

July 13th, 2010 | By SDot

Hennessy Methusalem

Hennessy has teamed up with French shoe maker Berluti to bring you an exclusive Methusalem of their X.O. cognac. The Methusalem comes in a six liter hand crafted bottle; each bottle having its edition number engraved. The bottle comes in a leather bound wooden chest crafted by none other than Berluti, from the same type of leather used to create their shoes (which takes over seventy hours to craft). Only 150 bottles will be made available exclusively through Berluti. I want to see the price tag on this bottle.

Recap and Footage of Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae and N.E.R.D Concert

June 4th, 2010 | By Isis

This was a dope concert that no one should have missed. The concert started on time and everybody performed with plenty of energy, engaging the crowd.  Badu didn’t get off stage till 12 am.  The show was in Chicago June 2, and the 3rd. I went to the show that was on the 2nd. I had some of the best seats in the house and was able to capture some footage for you guys to check out. Shouts out to my favorite Dj for showing me ticket love.

Janelle Monae opened the show and killed it might I add. She had me wanting to buy a cloak and some black dance shoes.

Here she is performing a ballad ” Smile”… think this vid pretty much captures her raw talent vocally.

N.E.R.D followed Janelle and boy do I love me some Pharell. The group performed a bulk of their girl friendly songs. Pharell was real cool and even stepped out on the ledge of the stage to touch fans. ( I love Pharell)

Heres the footage of my boo performing ” Beautiful” .. at the end of the video he hops on some speakers, you can tell he loves his fans.

Lastly we have Ms. Badu who definitely did her thing. She gave dope live versions of tracks of her latest album as well as taking it back to her 98 debut.

“The Yard” An A’Capella/Hip-Hop Musical Semester Finale at Southern Illinois Carbondale

May 1st, 2010 | By Isis

SIUC

With the title stemming from college greek slang referring to the “schoolyard” (i.e. campus), “The Yard” is a screenplay written, produced, and directed by 24 year-old Southern Illinois University-Carbondale alumnus Brandon A. Williams. This particular piece of work is a story portraying college life involving characters from different backgrounds, upbringings, cultures and etc. It tells stories from the different perspectives of the various students, faculty, and members of the university and local community; some of these stories come from Williams’s personal experiences with his alma mater. The author labels this screenplay as a “acapella musical”. Similar to a musical, the characters’ lines transition from dialogue to verbal cadences and rhyme as a form of expression. However, instead of using song, the characters’ lines transition from dialogue to “spoken word” or acapella rap. Williams brings one of the major elements of hip-hop to the stage; being an independent hip-hop artist as well as an overall writer of comedy, poetry, songs, and plays, he decided to merge two of the talents together for his newest creation of artistic expression that is “The Yard”.
